degrees in rapid city and seeing temps around 20 to 25 above average and areas of south dakota, 35 degrees above your average, very warm temps there and we still have our problems across parts of the west and the next storm moving into northern california and this one is a very strong one. very significant rain will fall here, some areas eight inches of rain and a lot of the rivers in central california concerned about flooding for today and tonight. and this storm storms by tomorrow, and another one comes in on tuesday, wednesday, lingers a little into thursday and then dry things out and this is the most potent of all and mostly rain, another warm system, but a steady stream of tropical moisture and it will bring light showers throughout parts of the ohio valley, to the great lakes, tonight and this afternoon. and behind it, temps are going to warm up a lot. in fact, today, the temps are extremely warm, across most of the country and pretty much the entire country is above where your average temps are this time of year and tomorrow, we'll see this heat builds further, getting to 61, dlee

on tonight, and right now though it's a wintry mix of snow and freezing rain through oklahoma city and dangerous thunderstorms with reports of pea-sized hail and you can see the lightning strikes popping up across dallas, texas into she haveport and all this energy sliding northeast. a lot of moisture coming up from the gulf that's just enhancing it. what does that mean for today? we don't have a tornado watch yet, but i anticipate we'll see one for this afternoon, especially for the areas highlighted in the brighter orange color. good risk for a moderate risk for the risk of tornadoes, hail and possible damaging winds. some of these winds could get up to 50 miles per hour or greater. if it's not enough where we have the lightning and thunder and rain we also have dense fog. make it any more dangerous to see if there e's debris blown apart. this is really tough this morning for those that are traveling. be very careful with the fog out there and snow building in later today and tonight. a real mess for this christmas. i hope everyone can stay inside as much as possible. >> lots for

at the clock in the evening when he was late coming home from dinner in a city where troops guarded the lines between east and west and the rubble of war was still very fresh. my father knew that what he was doing was worth whatever the risk might have been, and so do the foreign service personnel that we send over the world today. they need to be accessible to the people on the ground. they want those people to see and touch the face of america. it is no understatement that our diplomats are on the frontlines of the world's most dangerous places. they leave their families behind, they miss holidays, they risk their safety to make the world safer, and to protect the interests of our country. they do not join the foreign service to get rich, and sadly, many of them, their names are only learned when a tragedy like benghazi takes place. our diplomats do not wear a uniform, but they swear the same oath as the men and women of our armed forces, and their sacrifice is no less important. take note, everybody, as we learned yesterday, the board's report calls for an investment of $2.3 billion a year
